Should President Trump compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown?

Gridlock is and always has been a defining feature of our constitutional system. In a government run by the people, interests clash and the political system slows down. The process of passing funding bills is generally the time when members of opposing parties polarize each other and refuse to compromise. If Congress cannot reach a consensus on spending that the president is then willing to sign, the federal government will shut down all non-essential services.

In the latest government shutdown threat, President Trump has demanded $5 billion in funding for construction of the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and the presumptive incoming Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi are offering $1.6 billion for border security. President Trump has threatened to not sign any funding passed by Congress if it does not contain the amount he has requested.

President Trump and his allies argue they are prioritizing the security of the American people by requesting $5 billion to build a wall. This side believes that a compromise on the amount of funding would threaten national security and is therefore willing to accept a government shutdown if they do not receive what they asked for.

Those who are opposed to a government shutdown over border wall funding believe that a compromise should occur to end the gridlock. They instead prefer that an agreement is reached on border security in order to keep the federal government open and running smoothly.

President Trump should compromise on the boarderwall in order to avoid a government shutdown. In the passage on FOX NEWS it states, “Essential staff at top level agencies would continue working, but most federal employees whose jobs aren’t vital would likely be sent home.” This is saying if President Trump doesn’t compromise on the boarderwall everyone “not important” will not have a PAYING job. This is important because without having workers nothing in the United States will ever get done. Also stated in the document on FOX NEWS Donald Trump says, “ I am proud to shutdown the government for border security.” This shows that are own President doesn’t want good for are country, yes he is trying to keep illegal immigrants out but is harming everyone’s family by not paying them. This reveals that he should not have a government shutdown because everyone will turn on him for taking their pay stubs away.

The government should not be put on shutdown. On the website CBS NEWS it simple puts, “ Democrats are offering no more than $1.6 billion, while the president is insisting on $5 billion.” This means that he has gotten a offer of 1.6 BILLION dollars and shut it down because he wants 5 billion so he is being very greedy. This matters because he already has 3.1 billion if he could get .3 billion more from the Democrats he would have 5 billion dollars. Second on the website CBS NEWS it has McConnell states, “ Well, I hope that’s not where we end up.” This shows that McConnell doesn’t want Trump to do this either. This demonstrates because most people don’t agree with Trump.

In conclusion Trump should compromise with the government. Because if he doesn’t he will lose the Democrats and everyone he makes lose their job.

Donald Trump should compromise on the border wall disagreement because it would be unnecessary to have a government shutdown when all that needs to happen is a compromise. For example, in The Washington Post article titled “Trump and Democrats can reach a deal on the wall – if they have the spine to take it,” the Editorial Board writes, “To secure funding for his wall, he should offer a path of legal status or citizenship for more than 1 million ‘dreamers.’” This suggests how a compromise can be reached that both parties will like. This is important because it gives an example of a well thought out plan and shows how it is possible to come to an agreement between the parties. Moreover, the Editorial Board goes on to point out, “Any compromise worth the trouble involves painful concessions for each side, but in this case, if assessed with cool heads, the concessions are a far cry from excruciating.” This is saying how the Democrats and Republicans can come to an agreement through level headedness. This demonstrates the importance of coming to an agreement that both sides will be pleased.

President Trump should compromise on the border wall to avoid a government shutdown. According to an article by the Washington Post titled “Trump and Democrats can Reach a deal on the wall- if they have the spine to take it.” by the editorial board it states, “The initial funding the president seeks, $5 billion, is hardly a break-the-bank sum by Washington standards — especially given that Democrats are already prepared to offer $1.6 billion for border security.” and then proceeds to state, “ construction would immediately be challenged by ranchers and other property owners along the border, who could tie it up in court.” BY using this statement the editorial board is trying to say that the democrats are trying to reach a peace with trump, and even if he gets the lump some of money it would be immediately contrasted in court by landowners. This is important to realize because the american people would pay for this wall just to have its entire existence taken to court by the people who own the property. Furthermore, in an article by CBS titled “Washington Could be Getting a Shutdown Before Christmas” goes on to state, “Hundreds of thousands of federal employees would be furloughed, and many government offices deemed non-essential would close.” This statement adds up to imply that with this government shutdown many people would be left days without pay. Without a valid source of income many people would not be able to provide for their families over the holidays. This matters because it shows how this shutdown would affect the everyday person just trying to attend and make money at their job. In conclusion, President Trump should compromise on the border wall because the democrats are already willing to compromise, landowners would take the wall to court, and it will leave the federal employees with pay over the holidays.

I think that Donald Trump should compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a Government shutdown, because in the FoxNews article titled “On border security” it says, “while the president is determined to protect the safety of the american people, Democrats have no interests in working with him.” This is saying that Trump should compromise on the border wall because the Democrats are not going to want to work with him. This reveals that he should compromise on the border wall because he will lose the connection he has with the Democrats and they will not want to work with him. It is a good idea for Trump to compromise the border wall because The Washington Post states, “The initial funding for the wall is $5 billion.” This shows that it is a good idea to compromise the border wall because it’s going to cost a lot of money to do. This is important to notice because it’s going to cost taxpayers a lot of money just for trump to secure their safety a little bit more than they already are. Trump should compromise the border wall because its going to cost A LOT of money and nobody wants to pay it, for example in the CBS article titled Washington could be getting a shut down for Christmas it says, “Democrats and Republicans are primarily divided over how much to provide for border security funding. Democrats are offering no more than $1.6 billion, while the president is insisting on $5 billion.” This shows that the president should compromise the border wall because of the money it’s going to cost. This matters because the people of America down want to have to spend so much money to have a little more protection than what they already have. The last reason why Trump should compromise the border wall is because of another interesting quote from the CBS article, “ The federal government has long been operating on short-term spending solutions, even though it’s theoretically supposed to operate on year-to-year budgets.” This adds up to imply that Trump should compromise the border wall because of all the problems it’s going to cause. This demonstrates my claim because it says the federal Government is only suppose to have short-term spending solutions and Trump is going to use that up real quick.

President Trump should compromise on the border wall to avoid a government shutdown. You can get $1.6 million and get what you can get done and if it is not enough you can go back and ask for more in the future. In the CBS News article titled ¨Washington could be getting a shutdown for Christmas,¨ Kathryn Watson writes,¨The government will partially shut down after Dec. 21 — days before Christmas — if the House and Senate can’t pass legislation to fund it, and if Mr. Trump doesn’t sign any approved legislation.¨ This shows that if Trump doesn’t sign any approved legislation he will force a government shutdown days before Christmas because he didn’t get the $5 million he asked for to build the wall. This reveals that Trump should compromise with the $1.6 million because there is no reason to have another government shutdown because he won’t build the wall unless he gets $5 million. More specifically, Kathryn Watson goes on to contend,¨This wouldn’t be the first shutdown under Mr. Trump’s watch. There have already been two brief government shutdowns during Mr. Trump’s presidency,¨ This means that under Trump’s presidency he has already had two government shutdowns and may have another because Trump won’t compromise with the $1.6 million. This matters because Trump would be ok with shutting down the government just because he didn’t get what he wanted because $5 million is an unacceptable amount of money to build a wall. Compromising with the $1.6 million from the government instead of forcing a government shutdown because he wants $5 million to build the wall between the U.S and Mexico.

Should President Trump compromise on the border wall to avoid a government shutdown? Yes, he should compromise on the building of the border wall to avoid a government shutdown. In the Washington Post article titled “Trump and Democrats can reach a deal on the wall – if they have the spine to take it” contends it would take $5 million to build the wall. My opinion is it would be frivolous for our country to spend that much money on something that may not even work. Basically, I am trying to say it is not a good idea to build the wall because it is extremely expensive and the success rate most likely would not be 100%. This reveals some major flaws in the idea. Also, people will most likely find a way to get in to the United States anyway. As a result, we will still have illegal immigrants in our country. This is explaining that no matter what we do unregistered and or unwanted Mexicans will always find a way to get in to our country. Furthermore, I think it would not be wise to shutdown the government because of this whole wall situation. If it does end up getting shutdown it will show how our government can’t decide on things together. All in all, Trump should take the compromise to avoid a shutdown in the government. Also, because the wall would take a lot of money to build and we are not sure that it will completely stop illegal immigrants from getting in to our country.

There is a split debate on whether Donald Trump should reevaluate his thoughts on the border wall so he can avoid a complete government shutdown. The answer is that Donald Trump should reevaluate his thoughts on the border wall to avoid a complete government shutdown. In The Washington Post article titled “Trump and Democrats can reach a deal on the wall- if they have they have the spine to take it” the Editorial Board stated,” Construction would immediately be challenged by ranchers and other property owners along the border who could tie it up in court.” This is saying that they will be taken to court by landowners on the border making it a hard task to win a case. This matters because if they choose to destroy property, that will cost them even more money to pay the already five billion dollars it will take to build the wall. They also have to pay one point six billion dollars to pay for border security for the wall.

President Trump should make a compromise in order to avoid a government shutdown. In the thinkthevote article titled “ Should president Trump make a compromise on the border wall to avoid a government shutdown,” thinkthevote writes, “ Those who are opposed to a government shutdown over border wall funding believe that a compromise should occur to end the gridlock.” This is saying it’s important to have a compromise to end the gridlock. This matters because Trump is saying he wants to protect America but he is arguing about how much money he should get for the border and threatening to shutdown the government which would put America in more danger. Specifically, according to The Washington Post, “ Do they want an issue or a solution?” This means people are confused if Trump wants more trouble for America or wants to use the money that’s given to protect America. This is important because if the government gets shut down there is no way Trump will get the money he wants which will probably lead to more border problems. This is way i believe Trump to make a compromise with the government to protect America from danger.

President Trump should compromise on the border wall in to avoid a government shutdown because if the government shuts down it will close all government services deemed not “essential”. In the CBS article titled “ Washington could be getting a shutdown for Christmas” Watson writes, “Democrats are offering no more than $1.6 billion, while the president is insisting on $5 billion — still not nearly enough to cover the full costs of the wall the president has long sought to build.” This adds up to imply that Trump is not going to get what he wants from the Democrats. This reveals that Trump needs to take what he can get with his budget for the border wall. In fact, this is not President Trump’s first time dealing with shutdowns. Specifically, according to the CBS article, “There have already been two brief government shutdowns during Mr. Trump’s presidency — one over a weekend from Jan. 20 to Jan. 22, and one for nine hours on Feb. 9.” This suggests that President Trump knows what he is doing when it comes to shutting down the government. This is important because he has already done it twice, meaning he probably isn’t afraid to do it again. The democrats aren’t going to offer Trump anymore money then they already have so Trump has to come to the choice of either shutting down the government or coming to a compromise about the spending budget of his border wall. Trump should take a compromise rather than shutting down all non essential government services.

It’s been a popular argument of whether or not President Trump should compromise on the border wall between the United States and Mexico to avoid a government shutdown. I feel as though he should, however many people argue that he should not. To introduce the argument,Trump seems as though he doesn’t even care about a government shutdown. In fact, in a “Fox News” article, he states, “Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country. So I will take the mantel, I will be the one to shut it down,” he says this to the governor of California. This statement means that Trump doesn’t care about a government shutdown, as long as the wall has security. This statement is important to the argument because with no government, how will we have authority? Without the wall, the democrats and republicans would also save a lot more money. To illustrate, in an article titled, “The Washington Post,” it states, “The initial funding the president seeks, five billion dollars, is hardly a break-the-bank sum by Washington Standards-especially given that the Democrats already prepared to offer one point six billion dollars for border security.” This statement from the article shows that the build the wall it’s going to take lots of money. This matters because the money our government is funding to build a pointless wall could be going to something else that’s actually beneficial.

Of course a compromise should be reached! A government shutdown is not something to be proud of, and should never be used as a bargaining chip. This is because it isn’t just a title. You may feel like a government shutdown has no effect, but the people it really hurts are among the nation’s most vulnerable. Poor families, janitors, security guards, and other low-wage federal contractors are hit very hard by a shutdown, if the 2013 US Government shutdown proved anything at all. In an article published by Vox, it is stated that “In October 2013, more than 850,000 federal workers were furloughed for the 16-day shutdown, affecting services for Americans in all 50 states”. This could cause problems for citizens not getting the same services as usual, but more importantly, if you are a child of a low-wage Federal employee this government shutdown is something straight out of a nightmare. For families living paycheck to paycheck, this is horrid. A part time job becomes necessary, but finding a part time job on little notice for a unknown amount of time is impossible. In a statement released by Héctor Figueroa, president of the labor union 32BJ SEIU he states “Members like Eddie Rivera, a security officer at the Statue of Liberty, will lose his only means of support for his six children.” Think about that family, who’s fate hinges on people they’ve never met doing their job.
You may think a border wall is important, but the intended purpose of a border wall is to try to help Americans. If President Trump is trying to help Americans, he should find another way to achieve his goals. Hurting the most vulnerable Americans is not worth a wall; and if you’re insistent about the way, get the funds in another way.

President Trump should compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown. In the Fox News article titled ¨ On border security, Pelosi and Schumer play politics while Trump fights to protect us,¨Kayleigh McEnany writes, ¨DHS prevented 10 individuals tied to terror -known or suspected terrorist- each day from traveling or attempting to travel to the U.S .¨ This means that are border control stop people from illegal border crossing and stopped people how were terrorist. This matters because it shows without the wall we are still good they can stop most of the illegal immigrants.¨ More specifically, McEnany goes on to point out, “ Much like Pelosi, Schumer also demonstrated a fundamental lack of seriousness in securing our porous southern border.¨ This means that we are stopping a lot of people from getting in to the United States without the wall. This matters because it is showing the wall is a waste of money if we all ready can stop people without the wall.

The wall can be bad to us and a waste of money. Specifically, according to McEnany, ¨ Homeland security has an obligation to protect our borders to keep out dangerous People out to are greatest extent”. This means that we are ok without a wall that the wall can be a waste. This matters because people have been fine without a wall for how long and no trouble.“Mowing the grass so people can’t be smuggled through .” That’s straight from the mouth of Pelosi.” This means that if we would put cositeration and cut the grass and we would be able to see if anyone would be smuggled. This matters because why waste time and effort putting up the wall.

To conclude, is that we should not build a wall is because that it shows how unreasonable to waste materials and money.

It’s been a very controversial topic whether if or not President Trump should compromise the wall between the U.S and Mexico border and try to avoid government shutdown. I personally feel he should. Conversely, others don’t feel he should. To introduce my argument. Trump should compromise on the wall because it would be unnecessary to have a government shutdown. Trump could be using that $5 billion for the construction of the wall when instead he could be using it for better use. Trump believes the problems are of no human immigrant crossing the U.S and Mexico border when he could be helping the homeless get their needs. In the Washington Post article it states,”The wall as Mr. Trump imagines it may be wasteful overkill, but it’s a stretch to frame it as a moral issue, as Ms. Pelosi does. The initial funding the president seeks, $5 billion, is hardly a break-the-bank sum by Washington. This means Trump is siding that the wall is a waste. This matters because Washington D.C is at risk of their money. Also, in the Washington Post article it states,”Granted, funding the wall, even in stages, is distasteful to a lot of Democrats.” This is saying Democrats don’t care for the wall. This reveals the Democrats even though they don’t care for the wall still granted the president money.

Yes, I do think Trump should compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown. Specifically, in the website called CbsNews author Kathryn Watson said, “Hundreds of thousands of federal employees would be furloughed, and many government offices deemed non-essential would close.” This is saying that a lot of federal employees would be losing their jobs right before the holidays. Moreover, it is saying that Trump shouldn’t make their be a government shutdown because of a risk of people losing their jobs. Also the CbsNews article as more evidence to show that Trump should avoid a government shutdown. Similarly, Kathryn Watson goes on to point out, “National Parks may or may not stay open — that has varied in past shutdowns.” This is saying that also people that work at National Parks could be losing their jobs because of their possibly being a shutdown. Overall, this is why Trump should avoid a shutdown. Also in the article on Thinkthevote.com, it supports the idea that Trump should avoid a government shutdown. In the Thinkthevote article titled, “SHOULD PRESIDENT TRUMP COMPROMISE ON THE BORDER WALL IN ORDER TO AVOID A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN,” it says, “President Trump has threatened to not sign any funding passed by Congress if it does not contain the amount he has requested.” This is saying they wouldn’t be able to do construction work like on roads or be able to do anything else they need funding for. Furthermore, it is saying he should avoid a government shutdown or it will have a big impact on the government. Lastly, on the website NPR, Brian Naylor states, “Independent agencies, including NASA, the Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency, will also be closed.” This shows we should avoid a government shutdown because it can cause many employees to lose their jobs right before Christmas. For instance, it saying we should avoid a government shutdown so people won’t lose their jobs before Christmas. In conclusion, the evidence the websites supported show why we should avoid a government shutdown.

Government these days have so many problems. The problem being asked today is should Donald Trump compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown? Donald Trump should compromise to avoid a government shutdown. For instance, according to the Washington Post, “In the latest government shutdown threat, President Trump has demanded $5 billion in funding for construction of the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.” Basically this is saying that Donald Trump ordered to have $5 billion for the building of the wall. This is important because we are talking about $5 billion, not $5 million, that is a lot of money for a wall. Maybe if Trump compromises and gives his reasons why he needs $5 billion, we wouldn’t have a government shutdown. In the same way, Fox News conveys, “Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country. So I will take the mantel, I will be the one to shut it down. I won’t blame you for it.” This adds up to imply, Trump will be the one to shutdown the government if he doesn’t get the money for the border between the U.S. and Mexico. It is understood that people don’t want others on drugs in our country because it just causes problems, but we don’t need to build a giant wall. We can hire more, stronger security that will help in protecting this country. If Trump compromised with the rest of the government and say he would only need $3 billion and build a semi-wall with more security maybe our country would be safer than it is now. Similarly, in the Fox News article titled, “On Border Security, Pelosi and Schumer Play Politics While Trump Fights to Protect us” the Kayleigh McEnany states, “Here’s the bottom line: Terrorists and criminals don’t target their victims by political party. Every elected and appointed government official dealing with homeland security has an obligation to protect our border to keep dangerous people out to the greatest extent possible.” This shows that the government is doing everything they can to protect this country. This matters because even though Trump really wants to build the wall he knows deep inside him that maybe it will be better to compromise and find a better way to deal with this other than building the border between the two countries. In conclusion, Trump should compromise on building the border between the U.S. and Mexico.

President Trump should definitely consider compromising to avoid our government shutting down. By shutting our government down, this will slow down the process of many other issues we are facing. Not only will te shut down slow down the political system, but it also will leave many officials out of a PAYING job for an uncertain amount of time. By shutting down our government, I believe this would be an imprudent decision. The president is basically demonstrating that he doesn’t care for the consequences shutting down can have on our nation, only because he wont be receiving what he wants. The president is prioritizing a minor issue and this can cause harm. With out a working government or it’s officials, nothing that is NEEDED can get done.

President Trump has to compromise with the wall because at this point so much has ensue as having many government official losing their jobs or having to look for another job in order to pay their necessities. The wall itself is not going to solve anything at all, if we are going to be honest with each other. The wall is meant to separate everyone from this country and that was not the purpose of this country. This country was meant by our founding fathers for us to be united in a nation. Having Trump put up this wall will ensue anger and cause havoc, having the Government shutdown has caused so much already and it will not fix anything. IF Trump gets what he wants and that amount that is granted to him, Congress can and will be able to overturn the decision. Although the president insisted on Mexico pay for it, it seems like its taking a turn on him. He has to let it go and face that the wall is just for decor and wouldnt do much for the national security. There is also terrorists within the country. So what difference would it make.

President Trump should compromise on the boarder wall in order to avoid a government shutdown because by shutting down the government hundreds of thousands of federal employees will not get paid or their pay will be drastically held off. This hurts the lives of american citizens, and because of a greedy president who is throwing a tantrum over a waste of tax payers money? It is not right. In the Washington Post article, it states, “The initial funding the president seeks, $5 billion, is hardly a break-the-bank sum by Washington standards — especially given that Democrats are already prepared to offer $1.6 billion for border security. And even if funds for a wall were appropriated, construction would immediately be challenged by ranchers and other property owners along the border, who could tie it up in court.” The president has been offered an exceedingly huge amount for boarder line security but would rather demand 5 billion in tax payers money to build a wall which is morally wrong in so many ways. Although security is important to protect our nation, this will not be the solution and will unlikely work like expected. Trump is being greedy and the money for boarder line security democrats have given is already a huge amount. That amount of money could be spent for issues that really matter and truly HELP our people or the environment.

I feel that Trump needs to compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown. He needs to come up with a solution so the shutdown can end and things can go back to smoothly such as important people going back to work with pay such as TSA, Govt. Officials, etc. This shutdown affects many people who work for the national parks or museums because some have to show up to work without pay or the parks and museums have to close due to no funding. If this continues people who work for the government will have to work for other jobs in order to support their families. Trump is asking for $5 billion for the building of a wall which is an insane amount of money that I believe should be used to go towards something that will benefit it’s people more. Therefore, I believe Trump should compromise and end this government shutdown that is hurting a lot of U.S families.

By forcing a government shutdown he is putting many people who work for the government out of work or they are working but not getting paid. The government has been shut down for 25 days now. We have still not made a compromise and whether or not to give funding to president Trump. After reading these three articles it is clear that even before the shutdown there was no end in sight. In the Fox News article they would not stop saying how much Trump cared for United States citizens; how come since the shutdown people have been trying to find food because the government is not providing any, how about all the people who are not getting paid on time, or what about the gun that got passed the TSA and threated every life that was on that plane. If Trump said he wanted to protect the people he should have just made a compromise that would have been less cheap and more effective than a wall. If there is one thing I know is that some people will do anything to find a better life if their will is strong enough; I know that a wall will not stop anyone from obtaining a better life. we need to stop building walls and start building bridges to show that we are a strong country that is willing to help those in need, and that will benefit our economy and diversity.

I think he should come up with some sort of compromise in order for the shutdown to end and so it can go back to running smoothly. The government shutdown affects many people specifically those who work for the government. People who work fro the government and are being affected by the government are continuing to go to work but the only difference is that they are not being paid. They are receiving no income and it affects their lives greatly. If the government continues to be shut down the people who work for the government will need to find new jobs in order to support their families. Donald Trump should agree with the compromise in order to avoid the government shutdown. Because of the government shutdown, the government will be going into more debt. It has already reached to the point were it is impossible to repay everything back. And by this shutdown, it can increase it even more than before. People will not get payed for how much they actually earn. Sooner or later, everything will come crashing down. I agree that majority of the people are against Trump building a wall, but in order to avoid this shutdown, he will have to come to a compromise. I think President Trump should just compromise on the border wall in order for the gov. not to shutdown because hes just harming his country and the people in it. There is people out there that live on the help of government. There’s also kids with serious medical needs that need to be treated in order to survive another day and even though one of the articles says trump is putting his people first and protecting them from immigrants … hes still hurting them by shutting down the government. I think this president isn’t thinking straight, he has made the people believe mexico will be paying and building the wall and now hes turned to them for funds and government as well for $5 billion when that money could be spent wisely on things that are really needing in America like medical help or education. Regardless if he tries to build a wall or not there will still be crime with or without immigrants. There’s just as many white people in America that are selling drugs and consuming them plus committing bigger crimes than any other race. There wont be protecting inside the wall specially if nothing is being done. I think this should just end and he should let the gov. reopen so he could actually start helping his people.

I truly believe President Trump should compromise on the wall too avoid a government shut down. In a passage on Fox News, it says, “Essential staff at top level agencies would continue working, but most federal employees whose jobs aren’t vital would likely be sent home.” I took this in the sense that he is trying to state that the workers of less value to him will be sent home without pay. Considering that its January 14th and the government has partially shut down it is already happening. The democrat party got shutdown due to how they’re going against what the President wants. Although the media is displaying this in a very bad light, the government has shutdown twice before. I truly do believe though that Trumps intentions are not of what we want them to be or how he displays them. He talks about keeping drugs and anything harmful out but if he truly wants that then there should be a wall around the U.S like how North Korea is doing.

I believe trump making the border wall will decrease crime, not only crime but the border wall would save americans $64 billion dollars from welfare and social spending in just ten years…and that’s if the border wall stopped 50% of illegal crossings. The reason I believe the wall will work so well in keeping out illegal people who want to invade America is simply because walls work everywhere…prisons for example, I don’t think the prisoners are staying there voluntarily. Thats my peace on the subject, I hope maybe my opinion on the matter can help others see where i’m coming from. I don’t hate the people on the outside of America, I love the people on the inside of america, that is why I believe a border wall will help keep the bad people away from the people I love on the inside. Understand that I want everyone to come to America but please do it legally. The border wall will help with getting the people who want to be here legally, here. The President needs to compromise on the issue of funding for a border wall. He should compromise because the burden of paying for a wall was supposed to be layed af the feet of Mexico according to the presidents own words. Perhaps the most important he should compromise is because the country is in an immigration crisis that needs to be resolved, and building a wall on the southern border (which is close to impossible logistically Durban to private lands) does not automatically get rid of illegal immigration. This government shutdown (the longer it last) will hurt the president politically and is halting pay to the brave men and women of border patrol. The president needs to compromise now because his signature campaign promise most likely won’t come to fruition, and the nation does not deserve to be the child being hurt in a brutal divorce of political pandering.

President Trump should compromise on the border wall for two reasons: the border wall is not in the US’s best interests, and the administration should avoid a government shutdown.

According to an article by the Washington Post titled “Trump and Democrats can Reach a deal on the wall- if they have the spine to take it.” , construction would immediately be challenged by ranchers and other property owners along the border, who could tie it up in court. The border wall would harm the local economies and livelihoods of our Southern borders and additionally only deter marginalized people from seeking asylum. It would also harm local environments, as it would alter migratory patterns for local fauna and interfere with a delicate environment.

Additionally, a border wall would lead to government shutdown. According to the Hill, federal workers would be kept at their jobs away from their families without pay during the holidays. Governmental shutdown also harms our economy.

For all these reasons, it is in Trump’s best interest to compromise on the border wall, if not reconsider it all together.

President Trump should make a compromise in the decision to build a wall. For the sake of our country and for the government Donald Trump needs to swallow his pride and agree to make a civil compromise on the decision to build a wall. In a Fox News clip Trump confidently proclaimed, “I am proud to shutdown the government for border security.” Basically he is throwing a massive tantrum by claiming if he doesn’t get what he wants he will shut down our government. This matters because to get the 5 billion dollars he wants he is going to make taxpayers pay even more to the government then they already have to to pay, for a wall that won’t even work. If illegal immigrants want into our country they will be able to find a way. A compromise needs to me made. Moreover, The Washington Post Editorial Board pointed out that, “Democrats are already prepared to offer $1.6 billion for border security.” This quote shows that the Democrats are willing to compromise and work with Trump, but this issue is staying one sided. Donald Trump, being president, should be mature enough to cooperate with other parties on issues, especially if the parties are willing to meet in the middle. The real problem isn’t that both sides disagree, it’s Trump is stubborn and doesn’t want to agree.

Trump should compromise on the border wall because the funds will not be given to him regardless. Border security isn’t a priority right now. The border patrol agents can hold their own and he wants to focus on keeping people out of the country when there’s other issues that need more attention, like public education in southern states where the education system is terrible, or focusing on getting “dreamers” citizenship, or helping people get in the country legally when there’s conflict south of the border. Many people are seeking asylum in the US because in Central and South America there is violence, poverty, murder, kidnap and extortion. Venezuela and Nicaragua are crumbling, while countries like Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, etc, have been facing conflict for decades. THAT’S why people come to this country. For opportunity, for safety and security of their children’s future. Something OUR president doesn’t even have the heart to consider. No we should not build the wall because we will have the government shutdown and without out the government a lot of businesses would be shut down. If trump builds the wall many Americans will suffer with prison and making it easier for drugs to come in.
Some important things that people need will be shutdown. On the website USA Today says, ´´that includes 41,000 federal law enforcement and corrections officers, such as prisons officials, FBI agents, U.S. marshals and Drug Enforcement Administration workers.´´ This means that many many people wont get the help the help they need. This matters because first off people could get away with more stuff without the FBI. Second the correction officers help people stay on track and keep them from ending in jail. Others will be shut down also like. the website also supports ´´most customs and border patrol agents, Coast Guard employees, Transportation Security Administration officials, federal firefighters and weather service forecasters.´´ This matters because if this does happen it will be easier to get drugs from airplane then having to drive, plus some people won’t know the weather. This means it would be a waste of money and time.
People will be working for free if the government get shut down. On the website USA Today it states, ´´Another 380,000 federal workers will be furloughed, including most of workers at Commerce, NASA, the National Park Service, the Forest Service and Housing and Urban Development.´´ This means that people won’t be able to pay rent or buy food. This matters because doing this will making people poor and children will be taken away from their parents. Similarly, on the website USA Today supports, that ´´More than 420,000 federal workers who provide essential services will be forced to work without pay, according to Democrats’ memo.´´ This means it is illegal for most jobs for people to work there. This matters because it goes against are laws as Americans.
I think we should not allow Trump to build his wall. Building the wall will cause a government shutdown. There to many negative consequences to sacrificing the government Trump’s wall. It might help the border but not America in the end.

There are many reasons why there should be compromise about this bill. For one, we absolutely should avoid a government shut down at all costs. The minute the government shuts down, thousands of government employees all around the country are not getting paid. The fact that Trump is so persistent on this topic, and that he said he did not care if there was a government shut down, means he is clearly not prioritizing the health and safety of our people. Proponents say that by not funding the border wall we are compromising our safety, but a wall is not going to do much anyway. If the President really wanted to support the safety of the American people, he would be focusing on de-escalation training for police and finding a solution to our high homicide and mass shooting rates, not attacking innocent people at the border.

I said yes but I don’t believe that the wall should be built in the first place. There are cheaper, more effective, and more humane ways of keeping our country safe. The country should be more open to people who need help and a new home. I am not saying we should let anyone come into the country, but I am saying that building a wall is a sign of unacceptance and exclusion. Instead, we should focus on how to help the people who want the liberties we are given in the United States.

President Donald Trump should compromise on the border to avoid a government shutdown. Trump is demanding $5 billion in funding for the construction of the wall when instead he could be using that much money for a better intention. Trump believes the real world problems are making sure no human immigrant can or will make it over the wall when there are thousands and thousands of children starving. In a CNN article titled, ¨85,000 children under 5 may have died of starvation in Yemen war,” Kara Fox, author of this article, stated, ¨Through new analysis of United Nations data, the leading international charity found that between April 2015 and October 2018, about 84,701 children under 5 died from untreated cases of severe acute malnutrition — or in simple terms, hunger.” This is a very huge problem going on throughout our world. Weŕe losing people daily, but Trump is worried about building a wall. And also, in a CBS News titled, “Washington could be getting a shutdown for Christmas,” by Kathryn Watson; the title says it all! Trump wants this much money this close to Christmas. Trump is being completely illogical when he asks this much. Kathryn Watson also says,”The government will partially shut down after Dec. 21 — days before Christmas — if the House and Senate can’t pass legislation to fund it, and if Mr. Trump doesn’t sign any approved legislation.” Dec. 21 is literally 4 days away from Christmas and Trump wants to ruin it all just so he can shut out all immigrants? This is ridiculous! No family deserves to be put through this when its supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. In conclusion, Trump needs to compromise on the wall at least until at least after Christmas, plus he should worry about the bigger problems in the world.

The question concerning President Trump’s plan for the wall at the border of Mexico is very split. Some want it, some don’t. The cost for the wall is 5 billion, while Democrats are prepares 1.6 billion. Should President Trump keep the wall as it is or improve it to fit the budget? Many people think he should improve it to fit the budget. In the Washington Post article, The Editorial Board states that, “The initial funding the president seeks, $5 billion , is hardly a break-the-bank sum by Washington standards – especially given that Democrats are already prepared to offer $1.6 billion for border security.” This means that the Democrats are ready to pay $1.6 billion dollars for border security, but not $5 billion. This matters because America isn’t prepared to spend $5 billion on the wall, but if Trump could modify the wall by maybe making it not as tall or long or put border patrol checkpoints in certain spots of the wall, maybe it will be in the budget of the Democrats or even be less than it.

Many people believe this could lead to a government shutdown if Trump built it without proper funding. In the Fox News article, Kayleigh McEnany stated, “Schumer also demonstrated a fundamental lack of seriousness in securing our porous southern border. ‘The one thing I think we can agree on,’ he said, ‘is we shouldn’t shut down the government over a dispute.” This suggest that people think that our government should not shut down over a simple dispute. This is important because this dispute could shut the government down and Trump would not be able to improve the wall and he would not be able to get the funding for it.

I think that Trump should compromise on the Border Wall to avoid government shutdown. I think this because if Trump wants to create peace between everyone then he should make a compromise with everyone to fit the needs and wishes of the people. Trump needs to know that being president shouldn’t be just him deciding on everything that he needs to work with others to come to a compromise on what to do. I believe a government shutdown to help with border security will not actually help. I feel that the government shutdown will just make it worse. Trump should make a compromise on the border wall. He is making a claim that mexicans are bringing drugs into the country. Families are being torn apart all because of this wall. This wall is destroying us instead of making us stronger. Trump is a good president but i think he needs to realize what he is doing to people and that the amount of money he wants to build this isn’t easy to get. People are very aggravated by this. I feel that Trump needs to make some kind of compromise so it doesn’t go so far as to a government shutdown on Christmas.

SHOULD PRESIDENT TRUMP COMPROMISE ON THE BORDER WALL IN ORDER TO AVOID A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN? “President Trump has demanded $5 billion in funding for construction of the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.” This is saying that Trump is going to try and build that wall between the U.S. and Mexico. This is important because if he builds the walls the tarists and the drug smugglers out and make it harder to get in. If Congress cannot reach a consensus on spending that the president is then willing to sign, the federal government will shut down all non-essential services. This means that Trump will shutdown the government if they do not pay the amount he wants to build the wall. This matters because if shuts down the government then the FBI will not get paid and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives,Drug Enforcement Administration,Border Patrol, and Transportation Security Administration.
In the Fox News article titled “ On border security, Pelosi and Schumer play politics while Trump fights to protect us,” Kayleigh McEnany goes on to say “people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country.” This adds up to imply that people don’t like illegal people pouring in to the U.S. In the Fox News article titled “ On border security, Pelosi and Schumer play politics while Trump fights to protect us,” Kayleigh McEnany goes on to write “Every elected and appointed government official dealing with homeland security has an obligation to protect our border to keep dangerous people out to the greatest extent possible.” This is saying that homeland security wants to make us safe by building the wall. This is important because that means trump already has a lot of people on his side and want the wall.
I think Trump should build the wall to keep and let less bad people in.

The president of the United States wants 5 billion to build a border wall ,but all in all he needs to make a compromise with the Democrats to show he is willing to work with them and to do what is right for the country.
Specifically, according to CBS NEWS,” There have already been two brief government shutdowns during Mr. Trump’s presidency — one over a weekend from Jan. 20 to Jan. 22, and one for nine hours on Feb. 9.” This shows Trump is irresponsible because if he does not get what he wants, he will do all in his power to not give anyone anything they long for. This demonstrates that the president does not want to take responsibility for his actions even though he says he will. To emphasize this idea, why would we give him 5 billion if he acts like a five year old if they don’t get what they want. More specifically, Watson goes on to contend that, “Hundreds of thousands of federal employees would be furloughed, and many government offices deemed non-essential would close.”This means that if the president keeps doing what he is doing, something bad will happen. This matters to because if the government shuts down people will be forced to go to work and not get paid.We don’t need this so why would Trump not think about those people who would go to work and not get paid?
Given the points I said earlier,Trump should compromise about the wall so he is doing what is right for America.Specifically, according to CBS NEWS,”Mr. Trump is slated to leave for Mar-a-Lago next week when government funding runs out. The optics of such a vacation during a government shutdown wouldn’t be ideal for the president.”This shows Trump won’t have to deal with the shutdown if it happens because he will be away. This reveals that if Trump could compromise, everything would be better and he would not have to worry about the government while away. This could benefit him and America if he would just compromise.More specifically, Watson goes on to point out”Washington was approaching a possible shutdown after the death of former President George H.W. Bush, but Congress agreed to a two-week “continuing resolution” to fund the government at the same levels.”This is saying if Congress can give a two week continuing resolution, then why can’t they do that now?The part of this that matters most is that the Republicans and Democrats can figure out a compromise by the end of two weeks if this would happen.
All in all Trump needs to compromise because it will make the government, and Americans lives easier. We need Trump to show he is willing to work with the Democrats and show he is ready to do what is necessary for the country.

Trump should comprise the security of the border in order to avoid a government shutdown. A government shutdown would cost more since most of the time federal employees are given retroactive pay after the event and closed federal institutions can’t gather revenue. A physical barrier can lower the number of immigrants entering the U.S. but it won’t completely stop their mission to find asylum. One of Trump’s concerns is the war on drugs but even the cartels have invested in advanced technology even going to the extent of messing around with the GPS signals of homeland security drones. I believe Trump should strengthen the relationship with Mexico’s southern border considering the number of non-Mexican immigrants has risen drastically over the past years. He shouldn’t consider a physical barrier but he should build better coordination with modern technology and Mexico to build a better system, possibly then Trump and Democrats can reach a compromise.

The people are the ultimate say in deciding what the government can and cannot do. To get their voices heard, they elect officials that represent them. If these representatives do not want to to full fund a border wall, then the president must listen to his constituents.

Shutting down the government over policy is an extremely partisan move that has rarely occurred, but always has bad consequences. Government officials in the affected departments cannot work at all, and the effectiveness of the government is severely impacted. A move for political gain cannot come at the cost of shutting down the government, putting people out of work, and weakening the country. If a border wall is not what people want, then it cannot be passed.

Holding the government hostage, in this case, is also used as a political move to make your enemies look bad. The administration is trying to paint the representatives who do not want to fund the wall as the bad guys, even though it is the executive branch that refuses to submit to the people’s wishes.

I believe that compromise is necessary in any reasonable form of government. This is an idea that has been around since the writing of the constitution, with the “Great Compromise” being one that encompassed both solutions and therefore appeasing both sides of the argument. This is not to say that President Trump must 100% give up his idea of a Border Wall and roll over, as that is also not in the spirit of compromise. In the end, I believe that a compromise is necessary to move forward in this situation and come to a more moderate conclusion. Neither side will get what they want if they continue to stay closed-minded, and that is the true problem at play

President Trump should make a temporary compromise to avoid having a government shutdown. I think this because we can’t have a government shutdown now. There is too many things going on right now to have that happen. I don’t think he should give up and make a total compromise just yet. In the Fox News article, it says “17,000 criminals and 3,000 special interest aliens were stopped from coming into the U.S last year.” This means the wall stopped 20,000 total people we don’t want in our country. This matters to my claim because we still need to build the wall on the southern border of the U.S. Also, in the CBS News article titled “Washington could be getting shut down for Christmas,” it says “The government will partially shut down starting Dec 21.” This means if we don’t compromise, the government will shut down soon. This matters to my claim because it is saying if we don’t make a compromise, our government will get shut down on December 21. Given these points, i think we need to compromise for now, but then keep trying after Christmas because we need to keep criminals out, but we need to keep the government working and not shut down for a few days.

President Trump shouldn’t compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown. According to a Fox News article titled “On Boarder Security, Pelosi and Schumer Play Politics While Trump Fights to Protect Us”, President Trump expresses that “I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck,” the president told Schumer. “Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country. So I will take the mantel, I will be the one to shut it down. I won’t blame you for it.” This statement was the President’s reply to the potential threat of a government shutdown. This statement expresses that President Trump is willing to shut down the government to ensure that the lives of the American people are kept safe. An issue that commonly arrises with illegal immigrants is that when they come into America, they go and commit crimes. The border wall would be an asset to our country’s border security. It would reduce the flow of illegal immigrants into America, and as a result safegaurd the American population. Basically, this statement is saying that the President isn’t going to back down until he sucsessfully manages to build a wall to ensure the lives of the people. He is going to fight to keep the population of America safe, even if there would be a government shutdown. Moreover, both the Democratic party and the GOP should be able to agree on one major point. The wall would be keeping the safe the dreams of many people. Specifically, in an article published by The Washington Post editorial board, the author goes on to explain,”If it means a few billion dollars to construct segments of Mr. Trump’s wall, Democrats should be able to swallow that with the knowledge that it also will have paid to safeguard so many young lives, careers and hopes.” This is important to note because, without the wall, illegal immigrants could easily come into America, and ultimately take jobs away from U.S citizens. If the border wall would be built, those jobs wouldn’t be taken away, and would still stay with the American people. This matters because without security and jobs, many Americans wouldn’t be living what they are entitled to, the American Dream. Not building a border wall result in possibly denying Americans their right to prosperity. In conclusion, President Donald Trump shouldn’t compromise on building the border wall to avoid a government shutdown. If the wall would be built, it would protect many Americans from becoming victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants. Also, President Trump would be supplying many Americans with more jobs by building a wall on the southern border.

President Trump should not compromise on the border wall to avoid a government shutdown. President Trump understands the need for illegal immigration to stop and the border wall will help the situation. According to an article by http://www.whitehouse.gov, Trump has full knowledge of how illegal immigration is hurting the American people. In this article, it quotes Trump when it says, “Illegal immigration hurts American workers; burdens American taxpayers; and undermines public safety; and places enormous strain on local schools, hospitals, and communities in general, taking precious resources away from the poorest Americans who need them most. Illegal immigration costs our country billions and billions of dollars each year.” This is talking about all of the ways that the illegal immigration of these foreigners is hurting our people, our country, and ourselves. President Trump doesn’t want a government shutdown but he does want the Americans to not suffer due to the actions of these immigrants. I believe he should stand his ground and fight for what he believes in and what he thinks is best for his country. In a Fox News article by Kayleigh McEnany, Trump is quoted again during a meeting between himself, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer. This article states, “I am proud to shutdown the government for border security, Chuck,” the president told Schumer. “Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country. So I will take the mantel, I will be the one to shut it down. I won’t blame you for it.” This is showing that President Trump is ready to stand his ground and won’t go down without a fight. He doesn’t necessarily want a government shutdown, but he isn’t afraid of one. He is expressing his thoughts on the compromise, which is not an option for him. Trump is not afraid of a government shutdown if it means keeping his country safe. President Trump should not compromise on the border wall if he feels so strongly about it and believes it will help our country.

President Trump should not compromise on the border wall because of the potential government shutdown that we, as Americans, could be faced with. For instance, in the Fox News article, written by Kayleigh McEnamy, the Department of Homeland Security stated, ¨On average last year, DHS prevented 10 individuals tied to terror – known or suspected terrorists – each day from traveling or attempting to travel to the United States.¨ This implies that if the DHS had prevented 10 terrorists from entering our country, imagine what we could stop with a border wall. This is also important to notice because if the DHS had not stopped those alleged terrorists, who knows what would have happened to our country. In addition, McEnany goes on to point out, ¨A big problem facing Pelosi and Schumer is that their rejection of border security measures is highly unpopular.” This implies that if Trump doesn’t compromise on the border wall and sticks with his five billion dollar plan, it isn’t very likely that his plans will be denied. This also matters because if the Democrats are pushing Trump to compromise and he doesn’t listen to them and does his original plan, he will be more likely to succeed with his overall blueprint for the border wall. This evidence also shows us how much the Democrats are trying to compromise on this wall, but Preside Trump won’t compromise. Also, this adds up to imply that since Trump is still going for his original five billion dollar plan. In conclusion, Trump should stay with his plan for the five billion dollar wall. Even if we do experience a government shutdown, it’s not like we haven’t experience one or more in this past year. In a likely matter, a government shutdown would not affect us, as civilians, very severely to the point where we are facing unemployment.

Should president Trump compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown? I believe that president Trump should not compromise the wall in order to avoid a government shutdown. I believe this because the wall would prevent illegal immigrants from entering our country and possibly harming us in some way. President Trump is making the wall to keep all of us Americas’ safe. I think that if he’s trying to protect our country from terrorists and other people that may harm us in some way, he should not compromise on the wall. In the Fox News article Kayleigh McEnany cited the Department of Homeland Security by stating, “on average last year, DHS prevented 10 individuals tied to terror – known or suspected terrorists – each day from traveling or attempting to travel to the United States.” This shows that the US would be in great danger if these people made it into the country. This is why Trump should continue with his plans to build the wall. The wall would protect us from dangerous people, terrorists, from getting into our country and harming us. Also, if the wall was built, US soldiers wouldn’t have to guard the borders. This would help the US because we wouldn’t have soldiers at the border and they could help with other problems in the military. Kayleigh McEnany states, “Added to this number are the 17,000 criminals and 3,000 special interest aliens that U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehended in 2017.” This means that many people trying to get into the U.S. are criminals or “aliens”. This matters because the wall would stop these people from entering our country illegally. The wall would eliminate the risk of these people entering the United States.

President Trump should not compromise on the border wall in order to avoid government shutdown because the country’s safety is more important than shutting down the government. In the Washington Post article it states, “Democrats should be able to swallow that with the knowledge that it also will have paid to safeguard so many young lives, careers and hopes.” Basically what this is saying is that the money isn´t just buying a wall it’s buying the protection for our country This matters because shutting down the government for a little bit won´t matter if we now are the safest we can be from dangerous illegal immigrants. Continuing on, the president’s job is to protect the country and the citizens in it. In a Fox News article it states, “Every elected and appointed government official dealing with homeland security has an obligation to protect our border to keep dangerous people out to the greatest extent possible.” What this is saying is that a president should not have to compromise about the safety of our country. This shows how it’s a priority for the President and the government to do what they have to do. They have to protect the country from dangerous things, and people the most they can. To conclude, President Trump should not compromise on building the wall, and he should do the most protection he can.

Should president Trump compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown? No, because at the beginning of running for president he promised he would build a wall. How can the Democrats argue that Trump isn’t doing his job, when he’s keeping his promise to America. Trump is also trying to protect America’s future. In the Washington Post titled, “Trump and Democrats can reach a deal on the wall-if they have the spine to take it”, they discuss how Trump is just looking out for America’s future, by emphasizing, “If it means a few billion dollars to construct segments of Mr. Trump’s wall, Democrats should be able to swallow that with the knowledge that it also will have paid to safeguard so many young lives, careers and hopes.” THis means that Democrats shouldn’t be arguing with Trump but supporting him, because he is keeping his promise to America. This matters because Trump is trying to do his job by keeping his promise to America. With this in mind, Fox News says how people don’t want criminals to get through the border. Furthermore, the Fox News article titled, “On border security, Pelosi and Schumer play politics while Trump fights to protect us”, Fox News discusses how America doesn’t want criminals to get through the border, by affirming, “Because of people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country.” This suggest that Trump is trying to build the wall, so Americans can live in peace instead of worrying about the border. This is important because Trump is trying to keep us safe from criminals and drug cartels. Moreover, drug rates might because of the wall. It doesn’t mean that all drugs will go away, but it will benefit the younger generation, from getting into drugs.

To repeat, Trump is only trying to get the wall to benefit America, well democrats our more worried about stoPping Trump. In fact, Fox News claims that Trump is putting America first, by stating, “Once again, the president is showing us that he is putting America and the American people first.” This basically is saying that Trump is truly trying to protect America, but the Democrats will not compromise. Again, Trump shows determination when fighting against the Democrats. In the Fox News article, they explain how Trump is trying to protect America’s border, by saying, “while the president is determined to protect the security of our border and the safety of the American people, Democrats have no interest in working with him.” This is saying that Trump is going for by taking action, but the democrats are the only ones in the way. This demonstrates that Trump is acting like a president should and should not bow down to the Democrats. He should keep fighting for the wall!

And even people from the government don’t support him because they know there is no point for this.

President Trump should NOT give into compromise on the funding of the boarder wall. He is literally trying to protect our country from things that should not be entering through the boarders. The boarder in some locations could not stop a herd of elephants from entering America as it is not guarded and the fence in the way is not hardly a fence at all. What is stopping illegal immigrants and drugs from flowing into our country in these areas? not to mention the fact that Trump is literally asking for less than 1% of our total annual budget. 18 million dollars for the wall out of a 1.19 trillion dollar budget is asking for very little. The democrats in congress are the people that need to compromise. They will not give in on this wall and it is not because of the cost, it is because President Trump wants to build it and it is against their moral democratic code to do anything at all to compromise with a republican. It is ridiculous that Democrats will not put less than 1% of the budget towards securing our boarders with a wall, even though it will create jobs for millions of Americans. The wall definitely will not hurt America so what is the big deal about denying it?

President Trump should make a temporary compromise to avoid a government shutdown. Although we will have emergency needs, its bad timing with the world to go into a government shutdown right now. He shouldn’t though compromise completely. The wall is needed to keep criminals and other dangerous people into our country. Those who are traveling into our country legally are doing it for good reasons, such as finding a better life. Those who are running in are doing it to run away from things, such as the law. Trump should compromise for now but as time goes on still keep pushing for the wall that can benefit our country.

I think that President Trump shouldn’t compromise on the border just to avoid a government shutdown. American need security in the border instead of a border that cost billions of dollars. If the President get to built the wall, I think that the insecurity would be the same as is right now. Immigrants and other persons will still keep trying to pass the border. It is more secure by border security, I think that they have made a great job by keeping U.S.A. safe.

Given the statement given saying government shutdown just for a wall which could lead to way more issues rather then resolving the problem does not seem like a smart option made by the president. The democrats only offer 1.6 billion on the wall but the president persuades in 5.0 billion dollars but provided that the democrats are being stubborn the president trump take it to the next level by saying January 21 he will shut down the government til they agree. The shutdown was going to be earlier but given the death of George Washington H.W bush they decided in the two week notice in the time period come up with a resolution. Both of the parties want a long time resolution but democrats believe it will be more useful using the money for more security.

President Trump should not compromise on border funding. This has been a problem for the United States for a long time and should have been eliminated ages ago. So many illegal immigrants come into our nation and live off of the hard working American people. If people want to come to America they should do it the right way as it is written in the constitution. If people that fled from Iran to come to the United States during the hostage crisis could do it legally from halfway across the world then anyone can do it. President Trump is doing a great job running the United States and has made life for the working class 10 times better since he has been in office. So i fully support him and if it leads to the government being shut down until an agreement can be made, so be it.

We need the border walk to help ensure national security. It would also help us save billions and billions of dollars on illegal immigrants over the course of just 10 years. The only reason Democrats will not support the spending is because of their hyperpartisanship. When Obama was president Democrats approved a lot of money to hell secure our border. However, when Trump need’s funds approved they won’t do it, even though a wall would be far more effective.
Walls work. Israel decreased illegal crossings dramatically along the West Bank. Walls work in prisons, zoos, and even liberal celebrities’ mansions.
Having a well-functioning wall, which would require over 5 billion and not 1.6 billion, would help our nation immensely. It would prevent human sex trafficking, drug trafficking, and even endangered species poaching. Ensuring a wall being built helps ensure our sovereignty as a nation-state. It also would encourage legal immigration instead.
We need the wall not because we hate the people on the outside, but because we love the people on the inside.

Compromising on this nation’s security would be a mistake. After hearing many of our southern border security officers and many of our nation’s great troops experienced knowledge on perimeter and border security, it would be foolish to make any comprimise. Yes, the population has been fooled by empathy, but that gives no right to stop the wall being built for enhanced security. We have experienced personnel and even Israel’s border security, which have seen extensively, the effects building a wall has, why listen to their knowledge? They are our only advisors to a key movement in protecting Americans and giving immigrants their fair chance at the American dream. – Landon Orr

President Trump should not compromise on border wall funding to end the government shutdown.
The construction of a barrier on the U.S. Mexico border is vital to stopping illegal immigration.
The illegal immigration crisis is having tragic impacts in communities across America. A recent example of this is Gustavo Perez Arriaga, an illegal immigrant who entered the United States by crossing the border into Arizona. Gustavo Perez Arriaga brutally murdered Police Cpl. Ronil Singh, hours after Singh has celebrated Christmas with his family. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that Gustavo Perez Arriaga was a member of a violent gang, whose members refer to themselves as ‘Sureños.’ This recent incident underscores the need for the United States to secure our southern border. The United States must secure our southern border to prevent dangerous criminals like Gustavo Perez Arriaga from entering our country and harming Americans. This is why President Trump shouldn’t compromise on border security funding. Ensuring the safety of the American people is a critical responsibility of the President of the United States. Backing down on the border wall fight will lead to the failure to implement common- sense, effective border security measures, including the wall. If we don’t secure the southern border soon, more violent criminals will continue to enter the United States undetected, causing harm to communities across America. President Trump shouldn’t back down on border wall funding in order to keep the American people safe.
Physical barriers have been shown to be effective in lowering unauthorized border crossings. According to the Department of Homeland Security, border apprehensions in the Yuma Sector dropped by 90 percent after the construction of a border wall. It’s clear that walls are effective, and therefore ought to be a component of an effective border security plan.
If President Trump caves to the Democrats and doesn’t adequately fund border security, the illegal immigration crisis on our southern border will continue. Democrats have time and time again pledged to never fund a border wall. If President Trump compromises and allows border security to go unfunded, the endless cycle of illegal immigration will continue. Dangerous criminals will be allowed to enter the country undetected, and Congress and the President will simply kick the can down the road on an important issue that is negativity affecting the American people.

President Trump is doing what is necessary to bring better security to this nation. Democrats and liberals have been dodging the inevitable for too long. No one wants illegal immigrants to invade this country; unless you’re Nancy or Chuck. We need to protect what is rightfully ours and if that means pocket change out of the government’s endless budget then so be it. We should not bend to unlawful behavior. This country gladly accepts legal immigrants as well as me and, if they have nothing to hide then they would not have a single problem with going through the several entry points.

Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution states this: Before he enters the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:—”I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Within this oath that all presidents must take, is the promise that the president will preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Thus, our President has made a promise to protect the people of the United States and their rights, to the best of his ability. If President Trump believes that compromising on this issue will result in a break of that oath, then he is obligated to fulfill whatever duties he has Implimented as the President of the United States. President Trump should not compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown.Trump said before he was elected that no matter what happens he will build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico to stop illegal immigrants from coming in.President Trump stated multiple points on why he should shutdown the government and why the wall was so important to him.One point stated by Fox news was,” “We have to have border security,” the president said repeatedly at the Oval Office meeting while journalists were present. That commonsense statement should be obvious to everyone – Democrats as well as Republicans. This means that president Trump wants a wall to protect us Americans. This matters because some people as well as most Democrats believe he is doing this for himself, but in reality he is doing this for the greater good of the country.Additionally, this point is trying to show people that Trump is putting the people first as well as before the government and doing what all presidents should do when in power. In the Fox news article it also stated, “I am proud to shutdown the government for border security, Chuck,” the president told Schemer. “Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country. So I will take the mantel, I will be the one to shut it down. I won’t blame you for it.” This is saying that Trump is willing to take the blame for shutting down the government and won’t deny anything. This Once again shows, that the president is putting America and the American people first. We as the American people should be grateful for Trump’s actions.
America should build the wall to stop illegal immigrants from coming into the in the U.S. If the immigrants don’t come in the right way they shouldn’t come in at all. China has had a wall for over 200 years and it has successfully protected their citizens, so why shouldn’t America protect the people of our great country.

I don’t think that President Trump should compromise on the border wall to avoid a government shutdown, but not because I believe the border wall is a noble goal. A border wall is unnecessarily expensive. While stronger fencing is needed in some areas, such as in urban areas, to direct traffic to ports of entry where illegal immigrants can be apprehended by Border Patrol, in desolate rural areas, more fencing (or a wall) is unnecessary. Our resources would be better spent other ways such as E-Verify and increasing the quota for legal immigrants to reduce the demand for illegal immigration.

Rather, fiscal responsibility is my justification for President Trump to not compromise over the Border Wall. The US Federal Government is almost $22 trillion in debt! And the rate that the debt is increasing is only accelerating, with no signs of slowing. The projected federal budget deficit for FY 2019 is almost $1000 billion. This must end. Stealing from future generations is irresponsible and immoral. And the federal debt is the undoubtedly America’s greatest national security threat. As the examples of Greece and Venezuela reveal, disregard for thrift destroys entire economies and millions of livelihoods with it. While a government shutdown is far from ideal, it is still better than the status quo because it decelerates the rate of growth in federal spending. Yes, it may temporarily affect some federal employees (who are subsidized by taxation), but it will not create an economic “shock” that impacts the economy as a whole, as a default would induce.

In my perspective, President Trump should not compromise on the border wall in order to avoid a government shutdown. President Trump has portrayed his opinions and views on the subject of a border wall separating the United States and Mexico and how it will affect the greater good of American Citizens in numerous amounts of positive ways. The determination set forth by President Trump should not change, for the construction of a wall would lead to less issues not only faced by both the United States Government but by American Citizens. If President Trump does not keep his stance on the future of building a border national security could be threatened and the safety of the American people could be harmed. For instance, in the Fox News article, writer Kayleigh McEnany proclaims, “Tuesday’s meeting between President Trump and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer of New York showed that while the President is determined to protect the security of our border and the safety of the American people, Democrats have no interest in working with him.” This adds up to imply most illegal immigrants pose the threat of criminal activity or drug related problems that are unwanted throughout American communities. With a border, separating the two countries, a reduction of illegal immigrants entering the country could reduce and equal less violence and other unwanted activity throughout the United States. This is important because the development of a border, presented by President Trump, would lead to safer environments and safer communities for American people and families. Furthermore, the construction of a border will not only lead to benefits for US Citizens, but for the future of illegal immigration. A strong central border would lessen the number of illegal immigrants proceeding to enter upon United States soil unwantedly and therefore reduce the number of families separated and torn apart when trying to illegally enter America. This is saying that with less illegal immigrants entering the country less money of the American taxpayer dollar would be used to cover the essential needs of the illegal aliens while being cared for in America. This matters because with the production of a needed border less immigrants are stopped from entering the country illegally causing a risk to national security, less families are put in the situation of becoming torn apart and separated from their loved ones, and less debt is created for the American taxpayers of an issue that can be solved. The investment in a border from both parties is well needed to create a fundamentally sound future in protecting our country and creating better lives for American families and citizens. That is why President Trump needs to stand strong and keep pursuing the dream of many, such as the building of a border, that will benefit our country in the present time and throughout the generations to come.

President Trump should have a government shutdown because then he will get his money and the wall will be built. In the Fox News article by Kayleigh McEnany Trump states, “I am proud to shutdown the government for border security, Chuck,” the president told Schumer.“ Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country. So I will take the mantel, I will be the one to shut it down. I won’t blame you for it.” This means that yes the government will shut down but Trump will get the 5 billion. This matters because if the wall is not built we will still have drugs and illegal immigration. More specifically,Trump trump goes on to point out that According to the Department of Homeland Security: “On average last year, DHS prevented 10 individuals tied to terror – known or suspected terrorists – each day from traveling or attempting to travel to the United States.” This means that immigration is a major problem. This matters because this will keep happening if we don’t put the wall up.
For the safety of the country, President Trump should not compromise. Specifically, Fox News cited the Department of Homeland Security which stated, “‘On average last year, DHS prevented 10 individuals tied to terror – known or suspected terrorists – each day from traveling or attempting to travel to the United States.” This means that without the wall we will have more terror in this country this matters because many people can die because of terror attacks in the country. Even former President Obama’s Homeland Security advisors counseled him in a memo which read, “‘those who are potential national security threats to our homeland. Thus, the need for continued vigilance in this particular area. … Timely and actionable intelligence is essential to effectively drive efforts to counter the threats posed by the smuggling of SIAs.”’ This means that without a wall and good border patrol we might of had 10 terror attacks. This matters because many innocent people could of died.
Our country needs a wall is so we can stop illegal immigration and stop terrorism in our country. President Trump shouldn’t compromise on the wall.

No. The only possible way to keep illegal immigrants out of the country is to set a physical barrier. There are already many illegal immigrants in the country and the best way to get fix that issue is to make them citizens. But the US cannot make them citizens unless that have a way of stopping future illegal immigrants. More illegal immigrants will pour in this country if we make them citizens simply by just coming here illegally. Therefore, we set up a wall then make the illegal immigrants citizens. Donald Trump should not compromise on the wall because it is essential to stop the wave of illegal immigration. That problem is far more serious than the temporary government shutdown. Trump should keep pushing to fix illegal immigration.

I don’t think Trump should compromise the border wall. The government has already spent too much money and time working on this wall. I do believe this will protect the country and decrease, if not, stop, illegal immigration in the United States. President Trump specifically required this wall to stop people from coming in the nation illegally. Some people don’t care if immigrants come here illegally; some people even want illegal immigrants coming to the U.S. I think that is a big mistake because that is not fair to the people who came here legally and did all the work to get to this country. In addition, border control would be useless and our borders would be open to any foreign threats.

I think Donald Trump should not have a government shutdown .What happens if the government shuts down?If a government shutdown occurs, so-called “essential services” would continue, and so would “mandatory” spending programs, like Social Security payments and Medicare. The armed forces would also continue their service, both on U.S. soil and abroad. And the U.S. Postal Service would still be cooperative.Specifically, according to CBS News, “ Democrats and Republicans are primarily divided over how much to provide for border security funding, Democrats are offering no more than $1.6 billion, while the president is insisting on $5 billion — still not nearly enough to cover the full costs of the wall the president has long sought to build. This is saying that it is still not enough to pay for the whole thing. This is important because if he does not have enough money he can’t build the wall and a lot of people will be disappointed in him. This wouldn’t be the first shutdown under Mr. Trump’s watch. There have already been two brief government shutdowns during Mr. Trump’s presidency — one over a weekend from Jan. 20 to Jan. 22, and one for nine hours on Feb. 9.It says that’’ The federal government has long been operating on short-term spending solutions, even though it’s theoretically supposed to operate on year-to-year budgets.Similarly, kathryn goes on to contend,’’Republicans on Capitol Hill are more reluctant to push for a shutdown than Mr. Trump is. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he hopes Washington doesn’t reach the point of needing a shutdown. This suggest that we should not have a shutdown there is no point. This reveals that Trump wants everything he want no matter what it takes to do it.

Should Donald Trump build the wall.He should offer a path to legal status or citizenship for more than 1 million “dreamers” — mainly undocumented immigrants in their teens and 20s brought to this country by their parents and raised here since childhood.Similarly,Editorial Board goes on to point out,’’United States for some 300,000 Hondurans, Haitians and Salvadorans who have already been living here for years, legally, having been granted temporary protected status after calamities struck their home countries, and the president could lure plenty of Democrats to the table, ready to discuss his border wall. This adds up to imply that ,The wall as Mr. Trump imagines it may be wasteful overkill, but it’s a stretch to frame it as a moral issue, as Ms. Pelosi does. The initial funding the president seeks, $5 billion, is hardly a break-the-bank sum by Washington standards — especially given that Democrats are already prepared to offer $1.6 billion for border security. This matter because so he needs $3.4 billion dollars now.Added to this number are the 17,000 criminals and 3,000 special interest aliens that U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehended in 2017.It says that.’’The Senate currently has 51 Republican and 49 Democratic members. That means that any House-passed bill would need at least nine Democratic votes in the Senate to get to the 60-vote threshold to stop a filibuster. Pelosi, of course, is well aware of how the Congress works, which is what makes her remarks so intentionally deceptive’’.Specifically, according to Fox News ,’’ Democrats get rolled in shutdown standoff,” read a representative Politico headline from last January. Nevertheless, here comes Schumer to the Oval Office repeatedly condemning government shutdowns – while conveniently neglecting the one he caused. This idea helps make the article more better. This Demonstrates that it is real important if he is going to do it or not.

President Donald J. Trump should be more lenient towards the border wall in order to prevent a government shutdown because all trump is trying to do is protect us. In the Fox News article titled, “On border security, Pelosi and Schumer play politics while Trump fights to protect us,” an American political commentator and writer quotes Donald Trump and writes, “‘I am proud to shutdown the government for border security, Chuck,’ the president told Schumer. ‘Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into this country. So I will take the mantel, I will be the one to shut it down. I won’t blame you for it.” This suggests that all he is doing is trying to protect America from harm. This matters because people think he is so terrible for building the wall when really he is just looking out for the best way to keep America safe. More specifically, Kayleigh McEnany goes on to contend, “Once again, the president is showing us that he is putting America and the American people first. We should all be grateful for this… According to the Department of Homeland Security: ‘On average last year, DHS prevented 10 individuals tied to terror – known or suspected terrorists – each day from traveling or attempting to travel to the United States.’’’ This is saying terrorists and murders or people who just want to harm the American citizens want to come to America and Trump will not stand for this. This is important because it shows Trump’s main reason of why he wants the wall built and why he will go to such drastic measures as to shutdown the government to get it built. As previously stated all he is trying to do is keep America safe while so many people are trying to fight against him.
